Portugal – with a coastline similar to ours – already generated more than 70% of its electricity from renewable sources in 2013, yet we in SA are generating only a tiny percent of our energy via renewables. Why?
The answer lies in the greed of the ANC and Eskom. Eskom wants to profit from its sale of electricity. And it wants to put in totally unnecessary nuclear power costing a trillion rands, so that connected ANC cadres can rip off billions in bribes.
So they are denying ordinary South Africans the right to electricity at far lower cost in future. Our reputable CSIR has already scientifically worked out that renewables provide electrical energy at a far lower cost than either coal or nuclear.
We are already using less electricity now than we did in 2013, thanks to the ANC wrecking business with ‘loadshedding’, and preventing new businesses being established in SA. When Medupi, Kusile and Ingula come on full stream (dozens of billions over budget), we will have more than enough electricity for the next 30 years at least – if we encourage renwable power.
We have the sunshine – some of the best in the world. We have the wind. But greedy Eskom is the dog in the manger wanting to control all our futures and our pockets.
It’s time this monopoly was taken down, for the sake of all South Africans.
